President Maithripala Sirisena says that core values of our culture, customs and traditions should never be subjected to any power.

The President further said that a young generation who respect our culture and tradition as well as who can conquer the world should be emerged in the country. He said this while participating in the 75th Anniversary and Prize Giving Ceremony of the Henegama Central School, today (26).

The President was warmly received by the students when he arrived at the school.

Addressing the students, President Sirisena further stated that we should not only receive the education targeting an employment, but also it must be used to change the world and the society. He also said that a knowledgeable generation should be built in the country to elevate the image of the motherland around the world.

The President, paying attention to the request made to declare the Henegama Central College as a National School said that he will take the necessary steps in this regard in the future. The President presented awards and certificates to the students who showed outstanding performance.

The Principal of the School, Mr. Vijaya Sathyajith presented a special memento to the President.

People’s representatives including Lasantha Alagiyawanna, Upali Gunarathne, Chandana Jayakody, the Principal, staff of the school, parents, past pupils and others participated in this event.
