President Maithripala Sirisena says if a person is to be acknowledged and respected in the society, his philosophy and characteristics should run in the same path.

The President made these remarks participating in the celebration of the Golden Jubilee of the consecration of Archbishop Emeritus Rt. Rev. Dr. Oswald Gomis held at the BMICH, yesterday (22).

The President pointed out that Emeritus Archbishop Rev. Oswald Gomis was highly respected in the society since his vision and characteristics were heading towards in one path.

President Sirisena also explained the deterioration in the field of politics as a result of certain politicians don’t exhibiting their vision through their characteristics and further said that the genuine people will always be loved and respected by the community.

President Sirisena also appreciated the religious and social service rendered by His Grace the Most Reverend Dr. Oswald Gomis to the entire nation, regardless of race, and religion.

Prof. J. B.Dissanayake delivered the Keynote Speech at the event.

Rev. Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando read out the message of His Holiness Pope Francis.

The Maha Sangha including the supreme Mahanayaka of Sri Lanka Amarapura Nikaya Agga Maha Pandita Kotugoda Dhammawasa Thera, Ven. Dr. Ittapana Dhammalankara Maha Nayake Thera, His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, Speaker Karu Jayasuriya, Ministers and MPs including Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and others participated in this event.
