“The highest responsibility of us is to safeguard the future of the nation and to build the future generation as a strong one. The current government is committed to act on this regard”, says President Maithripala Sirisena.

The President was speaking at the Literary and Cultural festival of Samurdhi Children Societies, held today (Dec. 21) at the BMICH.

This festival has been organized by the Samurdhi Kekulu Children Societies to enhance the creative skills of the children of the nation.

The President pointed out that everybody has the responsibility to build the children as those who closely associate with the culture and the literature of the country. “The culture and the literature are important facts to make the reconciliation program successful, by spreading peace and brotherhood among the communities,” he said.

President Sirisena presented awards to the children who showed excellence. He also presented awards to the District Secretaries and the Divi Neguma Officials who officiate with these children societies.

Minister of Social Empowerment and Welfare S. B. Dissanayake, Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake, Secretary to the Ministry Mahinda Senevirathne and the Director General of the Divi Neguma Development Department Neil Bandara were among those participated in this festival.
