President Maithripala Sirisena says the current government is committed to build an impartial, independent and exemplary court system in the country.
“As the President I am glad that the judiciary in the country was able to act in a way that nobody can make allegations nationally and internationally. The government will fulfill it’s responsibility to create an environment for everybody in the field of judiciary to execute their duties with free minds and satisfaction”, the President said.
The President was speaking at the ceremony held today (Feb. 25) to lay the foundation stone for a new court complex to be built in Polonnaruwa at a cost of Rs. 382 millions.
This new court complex will consist Magistrate Courts, District Courts, High Courts, official residencies of the Judges, archives, labour tribunals and the offices for the lawyers.
Minister of Justice Wijayadasa Rajapakshe, Deputy Minister Dushmantha Mithrapala, Chief Minister of North Central Province Peshala Jayarathne Chief Justice K. Sripavan, Attorney General Jayantha Jayasuriya, Secretary to the Ministry of Justice and the District Secretary of Polonnaruwa were among those participated in this occasion.
