The launching ceremony of the book “Mahasupavanshaya”, (The Great Chronicle of Culinary Art), written by eminent Chef Deshabandu Dr. Publis Silva was held today (April 24) at the BMICH under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.

Dr. Silva has written this book as a result of carrying out research and studies for more than 40 years on the taste and the medicinal value of the Sri Lankan food.

It is significant that this book containing 1000 pages has introduced around 1,450 unique Sri Lankan edible plants, fruits and vegetables.

The first copy of the book was presented to the President by Dr. Silva at this occasion.

The Maha Sangha including Maha Nayaka of the Asgiri Chapter Most Ven. Varakagoda Gnanarathana Thero, His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith and other religious leaders, Speaker Karu Jayasuriya and Minister S. B. Nawinna were among those participated in this event.
