|Malaysia- Sri Lanka to build business partnerships

President Mahinda Rajapaksa held fruitful talks with Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak in New York on the sideline of the 65th Session of the UN General Assembly.
The discussions focused on building bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Malaysia. The two leaders discussed on seeking greater investment opportunities in Sri Lanka and other trade-related matters beneficial to both countries.
President Rajapaksa expressed his gratitude to the Malaysian Premier for the assistance rendered by Malaysia to Sri Lanka in defeating terrorism especially providing training for the Sri Lankan security forces and sharing intelligence information.
Malaysian Prime Minister Razak expressed the willingness to provide further military training to the Sri Lankan security personnel in Malaysia.
President Rajapaksa drew the attention of the Malaysian Premier of the ample investment opportunities that are available in the various sectors in Sri Lanka. Most of the Malaysian investors in Sri Lanka are focused on telecommunication sector. Prime Minister Razak said that his government will encourage his investors to invest in other sectors that are available in Sri Lanka.
