President Maithripala Sirisena presided over the 50th anniversary celebration of the Polonnaruwa Royal College this (09) morning. Polonnaruwa Royal College is one of the alma maters of President Maithripala, where he gained his secondary education. To commemorate the 50th anniversary, the President also planted a sapling at the school premises.
During his visit to Polonnaruwa Royal College, the President opened the technological faculty of the college. President Maithripala also joined an inspection tour of the new technological faculty, where he engaged in a conversation with students and teachers about the educational activities.
Minister of Education Mr. Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, North Central Chief Minister Mr. Peshala Jayaratne, Parliamentarian Siripala Gamlath and Chandrasiri Sooriyarachchi were also present.
