The foundation stone laid for the nine storied OPD complex in National Hospital with the funding of the Peoples Republic of China by the President Maithripala Sirisena today (April 7) morning.
H.E. Yu Zhengsheng, Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference also joined this occasion.
To reduce the rush of the National Hospital, the main hospital in Sri Lanka and the Asia’s largest hospital, a request was made to the Chinese Government to grant this building while the President acted as Health minister of Sri Lanka.
The approximated budget of the project is 100 million US Dollars and new building will be fully facilitated to replace the current OPD at the Hospital. Complex expected to finish within three and half years of period.
Health minister, Dr. Rajitha Senarathna and others were present the event.
