A ceremony to open the newly built Dharma Mandiraya named in memory of Venerable Sok In Von Mahanahimi and Venerable Thalalle Dhammaloka Anunahimi, and the two storied Dharma Shala Mandiraya at the Jayasumanarama Maha Vihara in Amugoda, Elpitiya was held under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena today (Feb. 20).
The Jayasumanaramaya which was built in 1896 was founded by the Rathnapura Chief Sangha Nayaka of Amarapura Siri Saddhamawansa Maha Nikaya Ven. Omanthe Abhayathissa Mahanahimi.
The Jayasumanarama has been rendering a great service for the spiritual development of the people in the area for more than 120 years.
The newly built Dharma Mandiraya was sponsored by Ven Sok In Von Mahanahimi, the Chief Incumbent of Yaksha Sa temple in Korea.
The President who engaged in the religious activities also looked into the wellbeing of the Ven. Dr. Amugoda Somarathana Thero, Anunayaka Mahapodhyaya of Eknaligoda chapter of Amarapura Nikaya.
President Sirisena presented a souvenir to Mr. Caster Pramobi Navu Bol who made the donation to build the Simamalakaya of the temple.
The Maha Sangha of Tri Nikayas’ including Maha Nayake of the Sri Kalyaniwansha Nikaya and Chairman of the Amarapura Sanga Sabha Most Ven. Dodampahala Chandrasiri Maha Nayaka Thero, Most Ven. Kuruvita Siri Saranankarabhidana Thero, Buddhist delegations from Korea,Thailand, Ministers Gayantha Karunathilaka, Chief Minister of Southern Province, Shan Wijayalal De Silva,Former Minister Piyasena Gamage, Gunaratne Weerakoon,the Co-organizer of the Bentara Elpitiya electorate, Amila Harshana Kariyawasam and many others participated in this religious ceremony
