A religious ceremony to open the newly built seven-storey building comprising Sangawasaya, Dana Shalawa and Seemamalakaya, at the Makutaramaya Myanmar Temple in Dematogoda, was held with the participation of President Maithripala Sirisena, yesterday (14).
The religious ceremony was held under the patronage of Supreme Mahanayake Thera of the Sri Lanka Amarapura Maha Sangha Sabha , Most Ven. Davuldena Sri Gnanissara Mahanayake Thera, Members of the Maha Sangha including, Agga Maha Panditha Most Ven. Kotugoda Dhammavasa Thero, Vidyodaya Parivenadhipathi Rajakeeya Panditha Most. Ven Balangoda Sobhitha Thero. Director of the Sekaine Pirivena in Rangoon in Myanmar, Aggamahapanditha Ven Bhadhantha Dhammananda Thero and a group of Buddhist monks from Myanmar participated in this event.
This building was constructed with the donations of charitable institutions and donors from Myanmar on the advice of the Nayaka Theras of the committee of Management of the Makutaramaya Myanmar Temple in Colombo.
The President opened the newly built seven-storey building after engaged in religious observances at the temple.
The President also presented awards to the Burmese devotees, who financially contributed to build this building.
Local and foreign devotees, including Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka participated in this religious ceremony.
