President Maithripala Sirisena chaired the discussion this afternoon (12) at the President’s Office on the issues of Indian fishermen who involve in fisheries activities in Sri Lanka’s Sea Periphery.
The Maithripala was also enlightened on many issues pertaining to the fisher folk in the North. The President pledged to focus attention to solve the problems of fisher folk as soon as possible.
Chief Minister of the Northern Province Justice C.V. Wigneswaran paid a courtesy call on the President at the end of the discussion and the problems of the Sri Lankan fishermen were taken into special consideration at this meeting.
Minister of Home Affairs and Fisheries Joseph Michael Perera, State Minister of Defence Ruwan Wijewardena, Governor of the Northern Province H.M.P.B. Palihakara and Chief Minister of the Northern Provincial Council Justice C.V. Wigneswaran were also present at this discussion.
