The President and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Maithripala Sirisena in his capacity as the Defence Minister assumed duties yesterday (Jan. 28) at the Defence Ministry in Colombo.

Addressing the Ministry staff President mentioned that, more attention would be paid into the National Security while implementing a well-structured plan henceforth. Accordingly, every effort would be initiated in strengthening the National Security within the Democratic framework as per the Constitution.

In his brief address, President stated that, precise understanding of issues that poses in various faces nationally and internationally has to be addressed in a constructive manner while formulating appropriate solutions.

While recalling into his directives of the last Security Council Meeting President mentioned that, respective authorities were informed to further study into the ongoing procedure of the National Security and to put-forward new recommendations.

The President requested a collective support from all the staff members of the Ministry in implementing the process.
