President Maithripala Sirisena vested the new four-storied Aesthetic Education Unit building at Dharmashoka Vidyalaya in Ambalangoda , with students yesterday (02).
The building was built at a cost of Rs.40 million and the financial assistance was given by the Past Pupils Association of the school.
The President who opened the new building by unveiling the plaque observed the new Unit.
Later, the President addressing the gathering said that the Art and Music render a great service to build a society which admires the spiritual values.
The President pointed out the importance of contribution of the school children for the national programmes launched by the government to create a drug free society.
The Principal Mr. Hasitha Kesara Weththimuni presented a memento to the President.
Governor of the Southern Province Hemakumara Nanayakkara, Chief Minister Shan Wijayalal de Silva, Chairman of the Election Commission Mahinda Deshapriya, members of the staff of the school, parents and past pupils were present on this occasion.
Meanwhile, President Maithripala Sirisena fulfilling a request made by a student at Gonapinuwala Saralankara Maha Vidyalaya, visited the school, yesterday (02).
The students warmly welcome the President when he arrived at the school. President Sirisena also presented awards for the students who showed outstanding performance at the school.
The Music Unit of the school was also opened by the President.
The Principal Mr. Shan Jagoda presented a memento to the President.
