A Presidential Commission will be appointed within the coming week to probe into financial malpractices, corruption and frauds of the previous Government, President Maithripala stated at a public event held in Aralaganwila, Feb. 10, 2015.

The President acknowledging the delay in investigating corruptions, said that he would now take steps in line with the powers vested in him as the Executive President of this country to bring to book those responsible for large scale corruptions by appointing a Presidential Commission. He also emphasized that he would not consider position, rank or political affiliations when punishing the culprits.

Chief Minister of North Central Province Pehsala Jayarathna and political representatives of Provincial Councils and Pradeshiya Sabhas were present.
