Will not allow any room to tarnish image of people who are involved in war victory

President Maithripala Sirisena said that the responsibility of building national reconciliation in the country, will be fulfilled as a government with a great commitment while ensuring mutual understanding and trust among all communities.

He made these remarks , speaking at the convocation ceremony of the Sir John Kotelawala Defence University held at the BMICH, today (20).

The Government has taken steps to establish a required institution under the 19th amendment to the constitution to strengthen the national reconciliation process, the President said adding that at present this institution fulfil all its functions efficiently.

The aim of the government is to fulfill its duties and responsibilities on national reconciliation process in a way without leaving any room for blame, he said. He further said that the assistance of every person should extend to the government for this task.

President Sirisena said that the government will also take appropriate steps to provide necessary facilities with qualitatively and quantitatively for Tri Forces.

President Maithripala Sirisena said that all those who involved in war victory, will receive the government’s appreciation and honour in today, tomorrow as well as in the future too and will not allow anyone to tarnish the war victories and also the President emphasized that he will not allow any room to tarnish the image of the people who are themselves committed to the war victory.

The President presented special awards to the graduates who showed their outstanding performance.

Major General Rohan Daluwatte- Chancellor of the Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, Vice Chancellor – Major General Milinda Peiris and others participated in the event.
