Queen’s 80th birthday; President
sends message of felicitation

President Mahinda Rajapaksa
in a message of felicitation, to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth
II on her 80th birthday, admired how the Queen had presided
over the process of transforming the British Empire
into the emerging Commonwealth of Nations and said,
“That momentous process provided both an inspiration
and an impetus for the worldwide process of decolonization,
which we saw in the ensuring years.”

sportsman or a sportswoman who wins a Gold Medal at
the Olympic Games will receive Rs. Ten million from
the state, said President Mahinda Rajapakse at a function
felicitating Commonwealth Games Weight Lifting Gold
Medallist Chintana Vidanagamage held at Temple Trees
this morning.

Housing made easy for middle class too-
President
|
|
|
Middle class persons
can now take a substantial loan to build a house they
desire, said President Mahinda Rajapaksa during the
launch of the new Mahindu Sevana Housing Loan Scheme
of the National Savings Bank. Following the pledge given
in the Mahinda Chintana policy document the loan will
be granted under favourable conditions where the recipient
need pay only the interest during the first five years.

during the days of yore rose against all adverse forces
against the security and the peace of our motherland.
Today, this noble duty has been entrusted to the three
forces and the police and therefore their bounded responsibility
is to safe guard the integrity and sovereignty of our
country. You are the main force to protect our interest

Mahinda Rajapaksa has appointed a special committee
to recommend persons to be appointed to the offices
of Mayor/Deputy Mayor, Chairman/Deputy Chairman of the
Municipal Councils, Urban Councils and Pradesheeya Sabhas
won by the UPFA at the recent elections.
