Vesak Full Moon Day Message - 2006 |
|
|
It
is with a profound sense of devotion that I send this
message, on the occasion of the 2550th Buddha Jayanthi
.
Vesak Full Moon Day is
the most precious day for Buddhist world over, since
it marks the birth, Enlightenment and the Passing Away
of the Lord Buddha
The transcendental teaching
of the Buddha, up holds that the mind is the precursor
of all deeds and even peace as well as war evolves in
the mind. Therefore, peace and solidarity too originates
in the mind of mankind.

Norochcholai: a new chapter in our culture
– President Rajapaksa |
|
|
Although
this is generally considered the laying of the foundation
stone for the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant, in the deeper
sense it is an occasion when we turn a new page in our
history and culture. From this moment on we will be able
to bring to an end the period of fears and doubts about
an impending crisis in power supply. From this moment
on we can have new expectations of the future. In other
words, we, as a nation will now be able to breathe more
freely.
So said President Mahinda
Rajapaksa, at the ceremonial laying of the foundation
stone for the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant today (Thursday
11).
