Speaking via
video conferencing this morning to young doctors taking
up new appointments, President Mahinda Rajapaksa that
as young doctors they would be called upon to work in
remote areas, but that helping people who have long
been deprived would be the most rewarding time of their
lives.
“Today you commit
yourselves to follow a noble career path, as healers
of your fellow beings,” said the President.
The President noted
that whenever the nation faced a crisis such as the
tsunami of December 2004, our doctors always responded
with dedication and commitment. He said their commitment
earned them the respect of the whole world.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa
said that as stated in the Mahinda Chintana the government
was deeply committed to taking all services, including
the medical services to all the people who had been
deprived for far too long.
