SL President, British PM discuss range of issues

President Mahinda Rajapaksa met with the UK Prime Minister Tony Blair at his country residence, Chequers, yesterday. Mr Blair interrupted his holiday to meet President Rajapaksa who was on a private visit to London.

The two leaders used the opportunity to discuss a range of issues, including the ethnic conflict in Sri Lanka, consolidating and strengthening bilateral relations, international issues and advancing economic ties.

Both sides agreed that the meeting was very productive and they agreed to take necessary follow up action.
