British Defence Advisor and members of the Royal College of Defence Studies call on President

British Defence Advisor Lt. Col Colin Martin and Members of the Royal College of Defence Studies UK, currently conducting a study of countries in the Asian region called on President Mahinda Rajapaksa this morning to discuss Sri Lanka’s security situation and development programmes.

The President said his government was committed to achieving peace and that the Government worked hard towards providing security to the people of the North and East.

He further said that a special committee had been established with foreign representatives to be brought in as well, to look into the recent spate of abductions in the country.

Speaking on Sri Lanka’s development programme President Rajapaksa said that Sri Lanka was working towards developing not only the town areas but the rural areas as well and explained the “Gama naguma” and “Maga naguma” programmes to the delegation.
