Sri Lankans should appreciate and honour the invaluable
service rendered to the nation by teachers, said President
Mahinda Rajapaksa in his message to mark World Teachers’
Day.
Teachers were one of the five main powers behind the
establishment of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP)
and as such it is customary for our party to appreciate
their service, said the President.
Furthermore, I would like to wish the teachers of Sri
Lanka all the required courage and strength to attain
the objective of creating an educated future generation
for the 21st century while facing the challenges of
globalization.
A Felicitation Ceremony organized by the Ministry of
Education to mark the World Teachers’ Day will
be held today at the BMICH.
