President
Mahinda Rajapaksa invited to the Presidential Secretariat
Sumathipala Abeysiriwardena, a father of 10 and his
family. Two of his sons died fighting for their motherland
during the Mavilaru and Muhamalai battles. The President
who was moved by the family’s loss offered them
assistance. During the lengthy discussion the President
inquired into their needs and instructed Foreign Minister
Mangala Samaraweera who was also present to provide
employment to one son.
Sumathipala told the President that
he was prepared to offer his other two sons to the Forces
as well.
