the Japanese Ambassador Mr. Kiyoshi Araki and the Secretary
to the President Mr. Lalith Weeratunga.
Earlier, in the Policy Dialogue with
Sri Lanka Mr. Atsumi and the Acting Secretary, Ministry
of Finance covered the policies of the two governments,
including the peace process of Sri Lanka and several
bi-lateral issues such as economic cooperation and cultural
exchanges.
In the Economic Dialogue, Mr. Atsumi
had exchanged views with the Additional Secretary, Ministry
of Foreign Affairs on measures needed to activate bilateral
economic relations such as promoting investment, and
trade as well as the environment for tourism in Sri
Lanka.
Mr. Atsumi also exchanged views
with Mr. Basil Rajapaksa, Senior Advisor to the President
on bilateral and multi-lateral issues of mutual interest.
