Pramodya Ruchirani Senanayake of Musaeus College (16 years) met President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees.

Senanayake was made a Women's FIDE Master (WFM) after her performances at the recent Chess Olympiad in Turin, Italy where she gained six points from nine rounds. She is the first Sri Lankan woman to obtain this award from FIDE, who started her career at the age of eight years.

World Bank Vice Chairman for the South Asia Region Praful Patel paid a courtesy call on Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees yesterday.

Mr. Patel, a Ugandan national, oversees the World Bank's operations in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. He specializes in development and specifically in infrastructure, poverty programs, institutional and capacity building, and multisectoral project design and packaging.
