Terror cannot liberate Tamil
people
LTTE destroying Tamil children; Tamil culture
– President Rajapaksa |
|
|
“The
LTTE should even now accept the reality that it is not
possible to bring liberation to the Tamil people through
guns, bombs and cyanide capsules. What they destroy
is the future of Tamil children. They destroy the future
of the children of our country. What they demolish is
their own culture. However dreadful, I will not be subdued
or frightened by the violent growls of the LTTE. I will
not be shaken by their threats of assassination. I am
bound by conscience to fulfill my duties and obligations
by the country.”
So said President Mahinda Rajapaksa,
in his address to the nation at the Neganahira Navodaya
– New Dawn in the East – ceremony to honour
the Security Forces for the liberation of the East from
the LTTE, held at Independence Square, Colombo, today.

The attempt is to defeat the people -
President Rajapaksa |
|
|
"No
one should think that it if there is a loser in this
battle with terrorism it will be Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The attempt is to defeat the people of this country.
Those who think they will be right
on top if terrorism wins are making a grave mistake.
No on can be pleased if terrorism is victorious. On
September 11 the entire world was threatened with the
airborne attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
This made the United States too agreed on the need to
eradicate terrorism worldwide. It is now clear that
terrorism is a threat to our region too," said
President Mahinda Rajapaksa speaking at the launch of
the 12,000
village development project under the Jathika Saviya
- Gama Neguma schemes, at Mirigama today. |
